Edible Flower 🌺 Magic

I am definitely one of those girls who believe flowers are a must for every day excitement. Not only are flowers just beautiful to look at, they also bring a vibrant fragrance to your space and can most definitely be eaten. Not every flower can be eaten especially if you’re buying them from a market, but if you’re growing them or you’re buying them from a farmers market most of those flowers can be eaten especially if they haven’t already been dyed. Springtime is so exciting because you can add edible flowers to just about anything, your tea, your cookies, your cakes, and even your yummy iced coffee.

Below you’ll find a chart of a few edible flowers that you can find just about everywhere and that are easy to grow. I’ll break down some of the flowers I’ve used, and what they are best used in and for. There is nothing more magical than adding flowers to your every day and just ordinary items to make an extraordinary experience.

Pea Flower -

Violets -

  • Edible colors: Purple, white, yellow and orange.

  • Pretty in ice cubes! So yummy on cakes and beautiful too.

Borage -

  • Edible color: Bright blue

  • Flavor: Cucumber flavor

  • Best in sandwiches and salads

A basic rule to adhere to is trust the natural colors. Anything you’ve never seen is most likely dyed and created so don’t eat it. Another rule is flowers hold water, so when drying them be extra careful to make sure to keep them in a space that doesn’t allow any extra moisture to enter otherwise they will mold. Go out and enjoy the beauty that Mother Nature creates for us and share the sweetness in a yummy treat.
